Marianne H. Begemann, associate professor, earned her A. B. degree in chemistry from Vassar College and her Ph. D. degree in physical chemistry from UC Berkeley (1984). She has taught chemistry at Vassar College since 1985 and served as chemistry dept. chairman from 1995 to 1999. Her research interests include laser spectroscopy of transient species and the geochemical transport of metals in the environment, with a focus on aluminum.

Ms. Begemann’s current course offerings include General Chemistry (Chemistry 108/109) and Physical Chemistry lecture (Chemistry 352) and laboratory (Chemistry 353). She has also taught courses in environmental chemistry for nonmajors and majors alike.

Professor Begemann is currently serving as Associate Dean of the Faculty.
